Some steps i took for doing this family pedigree, was that i first i actually recorded the data that I was going to use for this pedigree. in my case i had to record the eye color of each of my family members, some I couldn't do due to family issues. Recording their eyes colors were pretty easy mostly because it was a phenotype gene, which means that you could see it in your physical appearance. After i had recorded all my data, i finally started organizing them using a pedigree. A pedigree is a chart which has all your family members in a chronological order, from you grandparents or ancestors to you or your most current family. In a pedigree you list your characteristics, traits, genotypes, and/or your phenotypes. After i was done with my pedigree (draft) i did one on the computer on http://my.lovelycharts.com/ . This is a great website for doing charts and mostly for doing pedigree's! This pedigree you see above is one i made for my family and each of their eye colors. When creating my pedigree i was thinking about who should i start with? I wanted to start with my great-grandparents, but i couldn't use theirs because some of their information were unknown. Another thing that i was thinking about was how to label and actually show their eye colors in a key and what to use. One other thing that i was thinking abotu was which character or trait should i actually use for this project? Which one, when i use it, will i get the correct and most information.
